"Down and dirty" summary! That means you did not waste space nor time in your summary. I believe the "rugged individualsim and hard work" describes what the film maker wanted to get across. These people are British and are thus just setting the ground work for the developing American culture.

It was not easy to carve out a life in the frontier. It took hard work, patience and flexibility to meet all the challenges. Believe each of these characteristics have been used to describe the modern American.

You obviously got what you should have gotten out of this movie. A very good job. Keep on blogging.

A homestead usually meant 160 acres, which included on that, a place for a house. My grandpa bought his farm place from someone who drew for it, but didn't like its location. So, that farm had been in our family for 100 years until his kids sold the land. The land is now used to keep cattle and raise them, then sending them to the auction, which is a place that they sell the cows to people or companies that want them for beef.

Usually, the auction place has one or two auctions a week. Some, everyday. I couldn't do that, because it would ruin my voice. I can understand most auctioneers, but some of them, it takes me a long time to understand what they are saying. All Auctioneers use "mumble words or sounds" that they pur in their auction chant.

Got 5 "banana" 5 "banana" got a 5 now who'll give a 6, 6,6 banana, who'll give a seven dollar bid.

Some of the sounds they make arer really weird. I've heard one that made a popping sound when they were auctioning stuff off.

There is a famous Auction School in Kansas City, Missouri. It can be fun going to auctions.

IF we decided to move, we would have a lot of stuff that we would have to auction off, because when you raise four kids, you end up having lots of stuff left over, including pets.

I always thought it would be fun being an auctioneer. A funny story. When we lived in Norton, there was a man in our church who was an auctioneer. I asked him if he went to school. His wife said, "No. He was always auctioning stuff off, just for fun at the house, so I told him he should stop doig that and become an auctioneer and he did." Don't you think that is funny?

Look up LeRoy Van Dyke and find out what song he sang, that made him famous.

EBay is an auction place wihout an auctioneer. Auctioneers have to really know their business. If they something is an antique and it is not, the buyer can file charges on them and pay them back.

There are lots of specialty auctioneers. Cattle auctioneers have to really know their cattle business. Have MR. C, let you listen to "The Auctioneer Song."
